Bananas are the oldest fruits the humans grow. There are about 80 varieties. Bananas grow mainly in Africa and Asia, which are tropical and subtropical climate countries, as well as in the Central American countries. Bananas are picked green because only unripe fruits can be transported.
Bananas are stored in cool containers until the peel turns yellow or red (depending on species).
