Persimmons are large, round, juicy, berries with a thin peel. The fruits can be yellow, orange or even red. They are originating from China, later spread to other East Asian regions. Persimmons also frequently called churma. In the Turkic language ‘churma’ means ‘beloved’ or ‘sweet’. In Latin, this fruit is called ‘Diospyros’, meaning the ‘food of the gods’.
Persimmons are grown in Italy, Spain, Macedonia, and Egypt.
